Outback seeks to provide opportunities for growth and change with students and staff. We are looking to employ committed Wilderness Guides/Counselors interested in empowering adolescents by focusing on the students' self-esteem, team building, positive decision-making skills and building relationships of trust.
As a Wilderness Counselor, each individual acts as an integral member of a therapeutic team, consisting of three to four staff, under the direction of a licensed therapist. Staff are responsible for providing a safe and inviting experience that integrates wilderness skills with therapeutic goals for up to eight students.
Work schedules consist of an eight-day shift, lasting from Thursday to Thursday, with the following six days off. Outback offers competitive pay, with insurance coverage and a variety of growth opportunities.
Qualifications include: Age 21+; Standard First Aid and CPR certified, WFR/WEMT preferred; High School Diploma (or equivalent), degree in related field preferred; previous work with adolescents desired.
