Book of Generations: Forged Electric Flame

The Book of Generations is a book made by Outback students out of leather that is full of inspiring messages written by teens on the day before they leave the wilderness.  This book is passed down from student to student and each teen is given the opportunity to write their message to the next “generation” after them.  Here is an inspirational message from the Book of Generations:

Change is not something that comes easily. It is a phenomenon that requires persistent effort and personal awareness. At Outback this was the hardest principle for me to grasp. I thought that if I wanted to change, it would just happen, but I quickly realized that the desire to change is not all you need. What you need is the willingness to put in constant effort to change and grow even if times are uncomfortable. At Outback I have found myself, this sounds very cliché but what I realized is that after I was stripped of all the distractions of the outside world I realized that all I had was myself and the way I acted. This is how I realized the fake additions to my behavior that got me nowhere and I started acting the way I as a human should act. It was the first time that all of my emotions and actions were genuine. All the things I was saying and doing were coming from me and not some druggie teenager who I thought I once was, at Outback I found myself.
