Therapy includes the family
Not only does wilderness therapy have a powerful positive effect on the student, but it helps bring the family together, as well. As the student learns more about themselves, they are able to share their feelings with their loved ones. At the same time, they learn to appreciate the people who love them and all the things that their family does for them. For many students, the physical distance actually helps to open the lines of communication, bringing the family closer together. This stronger family bond will also help keep the student on the right path once therapy has ended.
