Dingoes: This week the Dingoes enjoyed amazing weather, and increased their emotional regulation through some challenging hikes. The group participated in several team building initiatives, including a race to build a busting set. The group laughed as they contemplated the challenge of achieving one common goal. We honored one Dingo with the token Solid Ground, due to his stable, strong beliefs, and recognized different decisions he had made that have countered what he would like his purpose to be. Each night the group enjoyed listening to stories of classic Greek mythology, and laughed at the pronunciation attempts of different Greek gods and goddesses.

Gnowees: The Gnowees had a lovely week with fantastic weather and lots of time for skills. We were a small group as some members were away on their Peak Adventure week, and yet we still accomplished a lot. We welcomed a new Gnowee into our group and she transitioned out of first camp by the end of the week. Two Gnowees shared their life stories with the group and we honored another Gnowee with her first token, Strong Cord. On Wednesday we completed an incredible hike, finishing four miles in less than four hours!
Goannas: This week the Goannas crushed 15 miles of hiking in only three days. We practiced letting go of difficult and frustrating things outside of our control. We grew closer together while busting, hiking, setting up camps, and feedback with each other. We enjoyed the sunshine and games in between hikes and, of course, meal time. We also honored two of our group with trail names; Creative Bamboo and Tropical Grizzly. Overall a challenging yet rewarded week for the Goannas.
Brumbies: Early in the week the group had lots of fun climbing the nearest peak. As the week progressed, the group gained new students and faced new trials. The older students were given the opportunity to mentor and encourage the new students. Each hike, though challenging, was conquered with optimism and a spirit of encouragement all around. At the therapy site, the Brumbies held token and trail naming ceremonies, completed many craft skills, and developed deep bonding relationships within the group. The Brumbies are excited and enthusiastic for adventures to come!

Peak Week – Adventure Therapy @ outBACK
This week on our peak adventure the group had tons of fun climbing and hiking in amazing spots all over Utah! We traveled to the Fillmore Lava Tubes and had a super cool gathering in a dark cave as well as a deep meditation after a hike at Red Cliffs. We also rock climbed in spots like Shotgun Alley and Kelley’s Wall. This group of students connected with one another through vulnerable storytelling and meaningful gatherings. At the end of the week Compassionate Grizzly was honored with the Winged Heart token after opening up to the group in the sweat lodge, Joyful Daffodil was honored with the Brightness token after lifting the spirits of the group all week, and Fiery Sunset was honored with the Openness token in the middle of the week after opening up to the group in an amazing moment of vulnerability. Overall this week was full of openness, connection, and fun games and activities for all the students involved, a week none of them will soon forget.
