Gnowees: The Gnowee Goddesses had a productive and challenging week. The temperatures rose into the nineties and the girls still hiked like champions. once the temps dropped to hikeable levels, Two of our newer girls acclimated the rigors of desert life with a little apprehension and a lot of moxie. Two of our older Gnowees had fulfilling parent visits and Fierce Moonrise received the openness token for sharing so many of her feelings with the group afterwards. The girls learned to work together and push through emotional and physical barriers to complete the week with style.
Dingoes: The group worked well supporting each other, even when they struggled with hiking. They had a great time playing games, working on their busting, and talking with staff. We had two new students get out of first camp and join the main group. We welcomed them with a ceremony, discussed their goals, and how we could support each other in those goals. The students also honored staff with a token. The group is working together to accomplish their goals.
Ulurus: We had a very fun and productive week. Many of the students are increasing their ability to express emotions and gain insight upon interpersonal communication. The Ulurus had a few token ceremonies, a parent visit, really enjoyed some in-depth gatherings, and had a great time bonding. We spent a few days at a site called Oasis relaxing after doing a great job on some long hikes. The students really enjoyed star gazing. Several students have also been enjoying mentoring new students. The new students got right to their skills projects. We have also increased our time practicing busting skills (friction fire). Every night the boys fell asleep with storytelling. The boys did such a great job we had a nice cookie baking session!
Brumbies:This week was full of fun and laughs. We were able to enjoy each-others company through the whole week while also working hard and hiking strong. A couple of the boys had great parent visits, and had great experiences being reunited with their respective parents. We also ended the week on a high note with being able to make a pool in a stream and relaxed in the water for a bit.
